The Vinyl Division of thermoplastic supplier Teknor Apex Company announced yesterday (July 27) the launch of two new Apex PVC compounds which can withstand harsh conditions in wind turbine and other outdoor control and power cable applications.
The compounds will be introduced at Wire China 2010 (Booth W1G05) from September 21 to 24 in Shanghai.
Apex 70001 and 70002 jacketing compounds exhibit low brittle points of -46 and -56 deg. C., respectively, pass stringent tests for oil resistance, and meet appropriate UL and CSA standards for flame performance.
"The low-temperature flexibility of Apex 70001 and 70002 compounds provide the cold-bend and low temperature impact performance required in wind turbine nacelle applications in extremely cold environments," said Mike Patel, wire and cable industry manager. "Their durability under extremely harsh conditions enables cable manufacturers to supply the growing market for alternate energy sources like wind power."
