Today, plastics make up about 15% of the weight of an average car, and the figure is rising. With many well-known key buyers from automobiles and auto parts joining CHINAPLAS 2012, it signals the strong relationship between the plastics and automotive industries.
The automotive industry is enthusiastically supporting the drive towards efficient energy-saving measures and sustainable growth, resulting in the high-speed development of plastics and rubber machines and equipment as well as the mold industries.
Advanced molding techniques combined with injection molding machinery and hot runner systems, featuring high-precision, efficient, energy-saving and environmentally-friendly designs, will have a significant effect on the R&D and manufacturing processes. Up to now, lots of well-known key buyers from automobiles and auto parts have registered for CHINAPLAS 2012 already, including BMW, Honda, Great Wall Motor, TE Connectivity, and Yanfeng Visteon.
During the show, a concurrent event named the "Future Zone" will be held. It includes a "Nurturing Our Future" competition and students have been invited to submit designs combining plastics and rubber applications, technology and innovation for building a brand new "Future Car". The winning entry will be made as a 1:1 car model for display at the "Future Zone" at the fairground.
