Polyscope is a Netherland-based polymer
company specialized in research, product development, production and supply of
styrene maleic anhydride (SMA) copolymers, compounds, aqueous solutions and
styrene, maleic anhydride and N-phenylmaleimide (SMANPMI) terpolymers.
At CHINAPLAS 2018, Polyscope presented its
heat boosting and blend optimizing solutions.
As increasing the temperature performance is
essential in some industrial and consumer applications. The XIRAN heat boosting
portfolio boosts the temperature resistance of a wide range of engineering
plastics.
“In the last few years, we mainly sold heat booster for ABS in Asia. This year we introduce a new heat booster for PMMA. This heat booster can help to increase the
heat-resistance of the PMMA for 5- 10 degrees, but it still keeps the transparency of PMMA,” said Ferdi Faas, business unit director of Polyscope.
This heat booster for PMMA can be used for the LED lighting in automotive. “With our
solution, manufacturers can make a high-heat resistance PMMA with good transparency.”
Meanwhile, the XIBOND blend optimizers portfolio consists of different
products which are suitable to enhance the properties of polymer blends for the
plastic converting industry. These functional polymers consist of reactive
groups which affect the blend morphology or the surface characteristics of
several polymer systems.
The XIBOND blend contains XIBOND compatibilizers, XIBOND
coupling agents, XIBOND chain extenders, XIBOND viscosity modifiers and XIBOND surface modifiers.
Automotive is Polyscope’s biggest
application at the moment, but its portfolio can be used in construction, compounding, packaging
and 3D printing.
In addition, Polyscope is planning to
launch a new E-service from which customers or distributors can get advice for
their solutions on-line.
“End users want to make their products more sophisticated. Therefore, they need to enhance the performance of their polymers.
Different polymers can be combined to get
specific properties. For example, we have PC/ABS, PA/ABS combinations before, but now we can see all kinds of strange combinations. And when there isnew combination, problems may happen. How to improve
the properties of the new combination is a problem,” said Ferdi Faas.
Currently, a global
customer base is supported by Polyscope’s corporate headquarters and production in Geleen, The
Netherlands, and with local compounding and contract manufacturing facilities,
as well as sales & marketing support in Europe, North America, and Asia.
