The all-electric KBB60 blow molding machine.

At the booth of Kautex Maschinenbau during K 2019, the company showcased the new sustainable HDPE bottle, in which the processed virgin and PCR materials have a drastically reduced CO2 footprint in comparison to conventional products.

The three-layer bottle is produced by an all-electric KBB60 blow molding machine. To reduce the consumption of raw materials, a mixture of polyethylene (I’m green) and PCR is foamed in the middle layer. The materials processed are supplied by the renowned Brazilian producer Braskem.

The weight of the whole bottle is finally reduced by 18%. In addition, the bottle has a neutral odor despite the use of PCR.

Meanwhile, visitors are able to see how Kautex’s new generation of extrusion heads work and where the potentials for saving are. The new extrusion heads are installed on the all-electric KBB60 blow molding machine at the show.



The sustainable HDPE bottle produced by Kautex is made of green materials form Braskem.

The new extrusion heads are specifically designed for consumer package applications. By optimizing the flow path and spiral mandrel dispenser design, the time to change materials and colors can be reduced by 75%, increasing productivity.

Dr. Olaf Weiland, CEO & Partner, emphasized that Kautex is not influenced by politicians to work on circular economy. The company has worked with Braskem since as early as two years ago, to advance the blow molding application of recycled materials.

As the current automotive market is slowing down, Kautex will increase investments in projects for packaging applications, he added. And the development of new extrusion heads is a demonstration of this strategic direction.

Kautex is undergoing an unprecedented transformation, including focusing on packaging, circular economy and smart manufacturing. Sustainability and digitalization are the main engines of the company's development, concluded Dr. Olaf Weiland.
