Over 450 industry professionals attended the conference in Guangzhou.

CHINAPLAS x CPRJ Plastics Recycling & Circular Economy Conference and Showcase was successfully held at Sheraton Guangzhou Hotel, Guangzhou, China on May 20, 2019.

The conference looked at the key issues that concern the plastics industry players in the new era of circular economy, and how they can advance their business under the world trend of resources saving.

According to the organizers, the conference welcomed over 450 experts and professionals from renowned enterprises and organizations, which 18% of them were from overseas. They included UNEP Basel Convention Regional Center for Asia and the Pacific, EUROMAP, CEFLEX, Unilever, Nestlé, IKEA, P&G, Adidas, Logitech, Johnson & Johnson, Colgate, Amcor, etc.

In the morning session, Stanley Chu, Chairman, Adsale Group, kicked off the Conference with his welcome remarks.

He pointed out that the global plastics industry is restating its commitment to circular economy, and working on the rational use of plastic as well as recycling.

Numerous keynote speakers were invited to share their valuable experience and insights on the latest trends and innovative technologies.

The first speaker on stage was Nana Zhao, Assistant Director, UNEP Basel Convention Regional Center for Asia and the Pacific. In her presentation, she introduced the developments and trends of international management of marine and plastic waste.
At the conference, 18% of the participants were from overseas.
Ina Vettkötter, Project Manager Communication, EUROMAP, shared the case studies of plastics material flow and post-consumer plastic waste recycling in Germany and Europe.

Jeff Liu, Senior Manager, Market Development and Technical Support, Petrochemicals, Asia, SABIC, shared his insights on how to make a world of difference together.

Meanwhile, Penny Peng, Director of Sustainability Division, Kingfa Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd., discussed how high-quality recycling integrates recycled plastic products into our lives.

The morning session was rounded off with the presentation of Dr. David Kusuma,Vice President, Research and Product Innovation, Tupperware Brands Corporation, on the topic of “Designing sustainable products in the age of new materials and technology”.

He said: “While focusing on adopting new technologies to improve the quality of life of our customers, we also need to concentrate on how to optimize the use and manufacturing of materials and how to better educate consumers on responsible use and consumption.”

In the afternoon, three parallel sub forums were held concurrently, focusing on different topics, namely “Material Science for Sustainability”, “Recycling Technology” and “Environmental Packaging”.

Around 30 expert presentations of speakers from prestigious companies and associations discussed the latest applications and technology trends in depth. They included: Logitech Far East, Dow, Johnson & Johnson (China) Investment, ExxonMobil Chemical, China Synthetic Resin Supply and Sale Association Recycled PET Branch, EREMA, TOMRA, Zhuhai Gree Green Renewable Resources, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, NatureWorks, etc.

During the conference, some leading suppliers also demonstrated their state-of-the-art solutions to the audience at the product showcase concurrently staged.

They included: SABIC, Kingfa, POLYSTAR, EREMA, Dow, ExxonMobil Chemical, Wittmann Battenfeld, Bandera, TOMRA, etc.
