KraussMaffei completes its largest headquarters relocation in Germany

KraussMaffei’s headquarters move, the last and largest of four relocation projects, was successfully completed. Since 2018, the 185-year-old company has invested about 200 million euros in four new plants in Germany and China.

All-in-one headquarters

The traditionally Munich-based company moved its headquarters from Allach to Parsdorf. Covering 156,000 square meters, the new site integrates Corporate Headquarters, Injection Molding, Reaction Process Machinery, Additive Manufacturing and Mechanical Production.

Holger Ahlborn, Senior Director Operations in der neuen Zentrale in Parsdorf, explained that the company had replaced the majority of machinery – machines at new site have an average of four-year usage while the ones at old site were 21 years in average. The replacement of old machines facilitates smoother running process and improved synchronization of value creation processes.

Automation and the Spare Parts Warehouse, previously located in Schwaig and Plauen, will also join the new plant in the near future. Like the other three new sites, Parsdorf headquarters run as a Smart Factory, which uses sustainable modern building technology.

More modern, more sustainable

The new headquarters boast three production halls, a main administration building, four office and social buildings, two parking garages, a canteen, a cafeteria and a 15,000-square-meter Customer Experience Center.

The new site owns one of the largest rooftop photovoltaic systems in Europe, with 9.1 megawatts output. The halls, machines and offices are designed for maximum energy efficiency and a large biotope is created next to the site.

The new headquarters contribute to sustainability.

Green areas further break up the site and over 200 charging stations for e-cars and e-bikes are set up.

Previous relocation projects

In 2020, two plants in Einbeck, Germany and in JiaXing, China, had gone into operation. With the commissioning of the JiaXing plant, the company doubled its production capacity in China and manufactured specially developed machines for the Chinese market there.

At the end of 2022, KraussMaffei Extrusion also moved to Laatzen, Germany, which covers 97,000 square meters and consistently gears production towards Industry 4.0.
