The 2nd edition CPRJ Innovative Technologies, CMF and New Materials for Plastics Conference & Showcase was successfully held in Shanghai, China yesterday (March 21).

Today, the organizer arranged a site visit to the forth plant of Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. in Ningbo, China.

With a 26,400 sqm of floor space, the new plant has expanded its capacity to 1,000 machines. The site mainly produces Systec C hydraulic injection molding machines with clamping forces from 500 to 13,000 kN for Chinese, ASEAN and overseas customers.

At a concurrent press conference today, Demag announced that the company decided to begin the production of double-color injection molding machines in China.

“Double-color injection molding is a niche market that requires high technology. It is a very potential market in China,” said Mr. Stephan Greif, CEO, Demag (Ningbo).

The double-color injection molding machines “Systec C multi” with clamping forces from 120t to 420t, which was brought in and assembled by Demag (Ningbo) this year, are mainly used in automotive, packaging and high-end consumer goods and other industries. The result of this experience is the fourth generation of the Systec series.

Maximum platen parallelism of the Systec C multi machine minimized rejects and protects the mold. The benefits from the toggle clamp technology also guarantee production and energy efficiency.

As introduced, the Demag Group produced a total of about 6,500 machines in 2018 with a turnover of RMB 6.5 billion. This record created a new high in the history of the group. In 2018, although the global economy is weak, the Chinese market has contributed 33% of its turnover and has become the group's largest single market.

“In the past year, many Chinese plastics companies have been transformed by the market, and companies need to produce more value-added mid- to high-end products. This requires better injection molding machines and solutions. Demag injection molding machine has always focused on the application needs of the mid- to high-end market, which is why we have been able to maintain steady growth in recent years," explained Mr. Greif.

Mr. Greif added that, by 2020, the double-color injection molding machines produced by the Ningbo plant is estimated to account for about 10% of the total output of the plant, and it is “introduced intact to the production line of the German headquarters".

At the same time, Demag has been focusing on providing customized solutions to its customers. Simply put, the more complex the customer needs, Demag is more confident to help customers achieve product differentiation," said Mr. Greif.
