Apple Inc. has donated more than 20 million face masks worldwide, and has started producing 1 million face shields a week. These face shields have been shipped to medical workers battling the coronavirus outbreak.

“Apple is dedicated to supporting the worldwide response to COVID-19. We’ve now sourced over 20M masks through our supply chain. Our design, engineering, operations and packaging teams are also working with suppliers to design, produce and ship face shields for medical workers,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook on Twitter.

Apple is working to distribute its supply of face masks to places of greatest need. Meanwhile, the first shipment of the company’s face shields was delivered to a Kaiser facility in the Santa Clara valley, according to Tim Cook.

As Tim Cook noted, the face shields can be assembled in less than two minutes and are fully adjustable. He also expected to ship over 1 million weekly, aiming at expanding distribution beyond the US.
