interpack 2023 gathers latest packaging technologies in Düsseldorf

After a forced absence during the COVID-19 pandemic, interpack, one of the world’s biggest trade fairs for the packaging industry and its related processing industries, will be running again and taking place from 4-10 May, 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The trade fair aims to show how megatrends like connectivity, security and sustainability are influencing on the future of the continuously evolving packaging industry.

At the fully-booked trade fair, around 2,700 exhibitors from around the world will meet to share their cutting edge technologies, discuss the packaging trends from along the entire value chain, demonstrate chances for business growth, and respond to the challenges of the industry.

According to the trade fair organizer, Messe Düsseldorf, the unique flair of the Düsseldorf exhibition halls will turn into a huge platform consisting of 18 halls, targeted exhibition areas, new specialty shows and forums.

In order to help visitors not get lost in a total of 18 trade fair halls, the halls will feature custom concept based on different core target groups, including food, beverages, non-food, industrial goods, confectionery and baked goods, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, and more.

The other focal points of the exhibition, namely packaging materials and packaging goods, machines for labelling and marking, production of packaging material, and integrated printed packaging, will be brought together in their own halls. Exhibitors at the concurrent event “components” will also be gathered in their own hall.

Messe Düsseldorf highlights that the food sector is among the most favored target groups of visitors to interpack. Consumer is increasingly pursuing sustainability, regional produce, organic products or products under fair trades. These lead to a transformation of food packaging.

A similar observation can be made for beverages and non-food products, which are presented together with the food sector in Hall 5 and 6, as well as in 11 and 14. Around 20% of visitors to interpack are especially interested in solutions for industrial goods, which can also be found in the same halls.

Visitors will find the latest processing technologies and machines for packaging confectionery and baked goods especially in Hall 1, 3 and 4.

As in many other sectors, the packaging of confectionery, baked goods, snacks and cereals, has changed over the recent years. Sustainable solutions, among all, are an important development direction.

In light of global demographic changes, the opportunities of the pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries are promising. Stricter requirements for drug development results in higher demand for systems and machine technology.

In specific, it will be shown at the trade fair that the machines and systems producing pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging are designed to ensure product safety, counterfeit protection and traceability. The universal pharmaceutical solutions can be found in Hall 15-17.

Packaging materials and packaging goods will be emphasized in Hall 7, 7a, 8a, 9 and 10, where visitors can view at least a third of all exhibitors with their material innovations and most recent finished packaging products.

It is noteworthy that there will be a particularly high number of solutions developed with sustainability and conservation of resources taken into consideration. For example, packaging solutions made from sustainable raw materials and made using higher percentage of recyclates.
