BOY presents ‘small giant’ and ‘big dwarf’ injection molding machines at PLAST 2023

From 5-8 September 2023, German machine manufacturer BOY will present two injection molding machines at PLAST 2023 in Milan, Italy. The BOY XS E and the BOY 100 E hybrid are the smallest and one of the largest models in the manufacturer’s product portfolio respectively.

BOY XS E: The small giant

The new BOY XS E, the designated successor of the successful BOY XS, has the proven servo drive of the BOY E series. With 100 kN clamping force, the injection machine offers the advantages of high energy efficiency, high dynamics, and smooth running.

BOY XS E is particularly suitable for micro injection molding and sprueless production in single-cavity molding. It will produce baby bottle nipples made of silicone at the trade fair.

The machine model is available in two different clamping platen configurations: the standard version for conventional mold sizes up to 160 mm (diagonally up to 205 mm clear width between the tie bars) and a special version with mold holder 75 x 75 mm for micro molds.

For the standard version, the BOY XS E offers an injection unit that can be adjusted in height by up to 25 mm to enable decentralized gating.

BOY 100 E hybrid: The big dwarf

The BOY 100 E hybrid features the specially developed servo-electric injection unit with the international size SP170, the injection and metering movements are driven electro-mechanically via two servo motors.

The rotational and axial movements of the injection unit are performed by two servo motors which are completely detached from the machine hydraulics. The independent operation results in short cycle times and high metering volumes.

A BOY 100 E hybrid with a clamping force of 1000 kN and a compact footprint of 4 m² will produce polypropylene (PP) gift boxes in combination with the space-saving BOY LR 5 linear handling system. With the required protective housing, BOY will present the fully automated production unit on a footprint of barely 9 m².
