Vietnam strengthens planning for green economy

After a meeting between the National Council for the Verification of Environmental Protection Planning and several ministries on 3 July, Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Prime Minister of Viet Nam, emphasized that environmental protection is the foundation for harmony between economic development and the nature, according to VietnamPlus.

Environmental protection planning must ensure that all economic sectors expand without causing negative impacts on the environment, said Deputy PM Ha. He underlined the need for sustainable economic solutions during the implementation of net-zero emission commitments, along with the development of renewable energy and green transportation.

 

Under the planning, three national waste treatment areas are expected to be built by 2030, along with one at each region and one in each province. The aim is to ensure that 95% and 90% of the waste in urban area and rural area respectively are treated properly.
