FKuR celebrates the 20-year journey of bioplastic

FKuR, one of the leading suppliers of sustainable plastics, has been focusing on the development of bioplastic and recyclate. The company celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Started back at 1992, FKuR was an associated institute of the University of Applied Sciences in Germany, with just a few employees and a laboratory extruder. Today, it is a company with premises covering more than 7,000 m² and a broad product portfolio.

Headquartered in Willich/Germany, the company also operates a marketing & sales office in Texas/USA as well as produces in Pune/India with a joint venture.

FKuR’s was founded as a research institute in Germany.

20 years of bioplastics, 30 years of sustainability

FKuR started with the question of how plastic products could be better recycled. “This year we are not only celebrating 20 years of FKuR, but also more than 30 years of commitment to the circular economy,” emphasizes Carmen Michels, Managing Director.

As the company continued, it added biobased distribution products from other manufacturers, such as Bio-PE from Braskem, Bio-PET from Taiwan’s Fenc Group, and most recently the post-consumer recyclates from Kaskada.

“We are convinced that the future of plastics must be carbon neutral. Therefore, these strategic cooperations were the next logical step for us in our mission ‘Plastics care for Future’,” explains Daniel Peltzer, Managing Director.
