INEOS Styrolution rolls out new ASA material for small medical devices

Source:Adsale Plastics Network Date :2023-08-16 Editor :RC

INEOS Styrolution, a global styrenics supplier, has introduced its new acrylonitrile styrene acrylate polymer (ASA) “MED” dedicated to applications in the healthcare industry, specifically designed for small medical devices for home and hospital.

The new ASA “MED” is specifically designed for small medical devices in healthcare industry.

The new Luran S MED 797S SPF30 belongs to the company’s ASA product family Luran S. Luran S delivers strong property performance including chemical resistance, UV resistance and impact strength. It also offers excellent flowability for easy processing in injection molding applications.

The product shows notable chemical resistance against alcohols or alcohol based disinfectants; it also shows good resistance against quaternary ammonium or glutaral based disinfectants, making it an ideal choice for clinical environments.

High impact strength specifically at room temperature and at lower temperatures (5°C) provides better protection of devices, such as avoiding cracking failures when a device drops to the floor. Such feature makes Luran S MED 797S SPF30 a compelling alternative to standard ABS materials.

The new Luran S grade is also available using renewable feedstock, based on a mass balance process certified under ISCC PLUS. Luran S ECO MED 797S SPF30 BC40 contains 40% renewable content, resulting in a 52% reduction on carbon footprint compared to fossil-based Luran S.
