Muller Technology, a leading global supplier of molds and automation solutions for thin-wall packaging, reports the successful adoption of its industry-leading six-axis case packer for high-volume production of lid and container packaging.

According to the company, it has enjoyed strong sales worldwide with a total of more than 10 machines delivered since the launch of the new system earlier this year.

The new automation system, which incorporates an industrial six-axis robot, helps processors bridge a major labor shortage gap in the U.S. plastics processing industry while meeting the volume-driven demands of U.S. processors and delivering greater versatility, flexibility, and productivity.

“In these challenging economic times, the six-axis case packer helps processors who struggle filling unskilled labor positions,” said Taras Konowal, Director of Sales and Marketing for North America, Muller Technology.

The jobs of packers are highly repetitive and unfulfilling, but highly needed, Konowal stated. The new case packer enables molders to re-allocate their workforce to more productive, fulfilling jobs. 

The six-axis case packer delivers greater productivity than Muller’s recently launched collaborative robot (cobot) case packer. The unit is one of the company's most productive systems for high-volume packaging lines.

It offers higher cavitation for the manufacture of blow molded bottles and thermoformed packaging. It also provides highly efficient cycle times, handling up to 64 cavities every six sec for lids and 5-sec cycles for containers.

The case packer can be purchased separately or integrated into an automation line such as Muller’s new M-Line system, a new integrated robotic and automation system which delivers significantly greater flexibility and versatility for production of injection molded packaging.

The basic model of the six-axis case packer can operate as a standalone, placed at the end of an injection molding or thermoforming machine, or tied to an in-mold labeling (IML) automation system.

It allows quick part changeover for different size configurations and comes with external guarding and is equipped with all the latest safety features.
