Borealis announces new material for thin wall food packaging

Source:Source: CPRJ Editorial Team Date :2011-11-25 Editor :(GS)
Borealis, a leading supplier of innovative and sustainable solutions for the plastics packaging industry, will introduce the latest addition to its range of BorPure random polypropylene (PP) copolymers with improved organoleptics at the Thin Wall Packaging 2011 conference on December 6-8 in Cologne, Germany.

As introduced by the manufacturer, BorPure RJ766MO is intended primarily for transparent injection molded, thin walled food packaging. It features excellent organoleptic properties, so it will not impart taste or odor to the packaged product. Being the product of a combination of Borealis' Borstar PP polymerization technology and Borealis Nucleation Technology (BNT), it offers a tailor-made molecular weight distribution (MWD) and crystalline structure resulting in fast crystallization and a good balance of stiffness and impact properties.

Energy savings are also achieved as the material offers excellent flow characteristics, which enable processing equipment to run at lower temperatures than is possible with many competing materials with sufficient organoleptic properties, adds Borealis.

"With its high melt flow rate of 70, BorPure RJ766MO now brings energy saving advantages to containers with even the thinnest walls," concludes Rainer Höfling, Borealis Vice President Moulding, emphasizing that the material with excellent organoleptic properties is a preferred grade for all types of food packaging.
