Ferromatik Milacron presents IMM solution for packaging at PLAST'09

Injection molding machine manufacturer Ferromatik Milacron will be at PLAST'09 in Milan, Italy, from March 24 to 28, 2009, jointly with blow-molding machine manufacturer Uniloy Milacron. Ferromatik Milacron will present an energy-saving high-performance injection molding machine for packaging.

The CAP-TEC 200 with 2,000 kN clamping force and an injection unit of international size 1,000 is equipped with a 2-cavity mold by Italian mold manufacturer Pezzutti and produces lids for ice cream containers at a cycle time of 5.8 seconds. They are extracted by a robot and removed on a conveyor belt, both by the Italian firm Star Automation, who also make available the machine's safety guarding.

The CAP-TEC 200 is equipped with the new energy-saving GreenLine package by Ferromatik Milacron, which is composed of the following three hard and software modules – the energy-efficient drive technology, energy management and energy measurement. The energy-efficient drive technology is made possible by exchanging electric motors of energy efficiency class EFF2 with energy-saving motors of class EFF1. During energy management the hydraulic accumulator is not always filled completely but only to the extent required for the respective process. Parallel functions of the machine can be avoided when they are not absolutely necessary for the process. This prevents costly energy peaks. An energy measurement with a new measuring module rounds off the GreenLine package. This module allows the energy consumption of single processes during the injection molding process to be made transparent and to quantify them.

The CAP-TEC was developed as high-performance injection molding machine for all types of packaging. It is well suited for caps, closures, thin-wall articles and in-mold-labeling applications. The CAP-TEC is available in clamping force sizes 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 kN. It can be used with multi-cavity molds from 48 to 96 cavities. It can also take up stack molds with two mold parting lines, for doubling production output. The CAP-TEC is equipped with an electric screw drive which permits the running of parallel functions, thereby contributing to the fast speed of the machine. The necessary stability for the high dynamics is supplied by a reinforced machine base with linear guides.
