Bayer MaterialScience exhibits automotive and luminary innovations in Chinaplas

Source: Date :2008-03-28 Editor :(ACH)
Bayer MaterialScience's Polycarbonates business will showcase a number of innovative products, applications and technologies at Chinaplas, held at Shanghai, China, from April 17 to 20. Exhibits from automotive, IT and communication, sports and leisure, electrical engineering, electronics, medical technology and household will be featured in the trade fair.

The futuristic concept car "eXasis" will be among one of the stars of the show, as it makes its maiden appearance in China. The car was developed by Swiss automotive pioneer Rinspeed in close collaboration with automotive experts at Bayer MaterialScience. The transparent polycarbonate Makrolon is used on eXasis in the production of lightweight body parts. It decreases the car's total weight, hence reduces the fuel consumption and emission of carbon dioxide.

Another development to be showcased on the exhibition is the colorful "Fantasia lamp," made of Makrolon, which uses Bayer MaterialScience's Fantasia technology. Fantasia is a collection of technologies for adding color and special effects to Bayer plastics. It offers a broad palette of color services which helps customers differentiate between products.
