Extrusion blow molding machines manufacturer Kautex Maschinenbau GmbH has declared its German production site in Bonn to be insolvent since August 25, 2023.

According to the press release, the unrestricted continuation of operations is given. The operations site in Shunde, China, is not affected at all. The company also said further development of the Bonn site into an innovation and service center is continuing.

Kautex has been in business for over eight decades.

Kautex has been undergoing a continuous global transformation process since 2019 with the aim of realignment. Although a large part of the initiated transformation process has already successfully completed and implemented measures with positive results, a number of exogenous factors have hampered and slowed down the process.

Those factors include the COVID 19 pandemic, the lockdown in China, the supply chain disruption. Besides, inflation, Russia-Ukraine conflict, and shortage of skilled workers in Germany further hampered the situation, said Kautex.

“A structured M&A process has been set up and intensive negotiations have been conducted with several potential investors. This process will continue and is currently ongoing,” explained CFO Julia Keller.

Kautex has been in business for over eight decades. Headquartered in Bonn, Germany, the company has a second fully equipped production facility in Shunde, China and operates regional offices in the USA, Italy, India, Mexico and Indonesia.
