Fakuma: High-performing TPU for long-lasting surfaces from Lubrizol

Lubrizol will display its specialty thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) at Fakuma 2023, through Danquinsa, its sales representative in Germany. New developments on the color stable and weather resistant ESTANE TPU portfolio will also be featured in the trade show.

ESTANE TPU provides exceptional performance with transparency after long-term exposure to the elements such as UV light, moisture, physical wear and chemicals. The polymers help protect and maintain aesthetics in demanding surface applications for automotive, consumer products, building and construction, and graphics.

ESTANE TPU can endure long-term exposure to UV light, moisture, and wear and tear.

With its thermoplastic behavior, the material can also be recycled.

The most recent developments of ESTANE engineered polymers include:

• ESTANE TPU for synthetic leather: a specialty elastomer for car seats, and

• ESTANE SILK 91T70 TPU for silky touch and color stability in demanding applications such as mobile phone cases.

Moreover, expanding product portfolio for long-lasting outdoor solutions, including ESTANE ALR series for PPF and graphics, new color stable grades are:

• ESTANE 91F88 grade for surface protection applications like flooring, and

• ESTANE ALR MC-93A-VE TPU for melt coating process providing exceptional hydrolytic and UV stability.

Dr Romina Marin, Global Business Manager Surface Protection for Lubrizol, explained that ESTANE ALR MC-93A-VE TPU was recently launched and is designed to outperform other materials in abrasion and extreme weather endurance for melt coating end applications that need to maintain initial clear or bright colors, and withstand harsh conditions, like tents or inflatables.
