Avient debuts thermoplastic ballistic-resistant composite panels at CAMX

Oct 26, 2023

Avient Corporation will highlight its range of composite solutions, including its new Polystrand ThermoBallistic ballistic-resistant composite panels, at the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX) in Atlanta from October 31 to November 2.

New Polystrand ThermoBallistic ballistic-resistant composite panels will debut at CAMX 2023.

Expanding Avient’s portfolio of protective materials, the compression molded panels made with e-glass and thermoplastic resin systems act as an alternative to ballistic-resistant materials made with other fibers or thermoset resins.

ThermoBallistic panels also provide structural bullet-resistant reinforcement to meet UL 752 Level 3 ballistic rating for interior and exterior architectural surfaces and components at a lighter weight than traditional panel materials.

Avient will also highlight thermoplastic composites, thermoset composites, engineered fiber solutions and Dyneema that offer high strength, weight reduction and corrosion resistance for products across a broad range of industries and markets.

Composites are inherently lightweight alternatives to metal and other materials, enabling sustainability initiatives such as material reduction and fuel economy improvements in many end products. Thermoplastic recycled-content composite offerings further support a circular economy and help customers lessen their environmental footprint.
