Röhm’s Acrylic Products business unit and SABIC’s Functional Forms business merged and formed a new corporate brand – POLYVANTIS, a global supplier of advanced transparent and opaque films and sheets, under the PLEXIGLAS / ACRYLITE and LEXAN brands.

New corporate brand is created for acrylics and polycarbonate film and sheet industry.

In December 2022, Röhm signed an agreement to acquire SABIC’s Functional Forms Division for polycarbonate film and sheet products globally.

POLYVANTIS will offer products such as films, sheets, pipes and rods. It will serve a multitude of segments, including building & construction, transportation& aviation, electrical & electronics, automotive and home & garden.

The brand’s global organization will have sales of about USD 700 million, with 16 production sites across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Long-term license agreements have been concluded with both companies for the respective brands in their segment. The PLEXIGLAS / ACRYLITE molding compounds business will remain at Röhm as the polycarbonate LEXAN resin business will remain with SABIC.

Combined from Greek prefix “Poly”, meaning “many”, with Italian “avanti” or French “avant”, meaning “forward”, the new brand’s name reflects the diversity of products and the pursuit of progress in the field of polymers and related materials.

The carve-out of the respective business from both companies and closing of the deal with SABIC is expected around Q2’24, subject to obtaining customary regulatory approvals.
