MEAF supplies first food grade rPET sheet and PP tray production line
With Kreyenborg’s IR-CLEAN Super-Clean process for post-consumer recycled PET, MEAF Machines offers its first extrusion line for producing both rPET food grade sheet and PP tray, providing even more flexibility to customers.
The new line has been recently installed at Pack Klaipėda UAB in Klaipėda, Lithuania, for the production of meat packaging.

Cleaning and decontamination for food grade packaging
Kreyenborg’s IR-CLEAN is designed for direct reprocessing off post-consumer PET flakes for food packaging, combining crystallization and drying in a single process. The system operates without vacuum technology and can be retrofitted on existing extrusion lines.
The efficiency of the cleaning process has been verified by a Letter of Non-Objection from the US FDA, and tests have shown compliance with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) criteria for the use of recycled materials for direct food contact packaging.
More sustainable option
Pack Klaipėda initially focused on expanded PS containers for take-away food. However, three years ago, the company decided to produce other food packaging, notably for meat and poultry.
Darius Kontrimas, CTO at Pack Klaipėda commented that among several potential suppliers, MEAF’s solution delivers the same output at a much smaller footprint than competitors’ offerings.
“This new line perfectly fits the current global trend to produce ever more with 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material such as bottle-flakes and works also with other thermoforming regrind,” said Roald de Bruijne, Sales Manager at MEAF.
