Smart, digital, connected technology for caps & preforms. Waitin’ 4 you at Chinaplas!

Apr 8, 2024

The digital revolution in the production of beverage caps and preforms is the highlight of SACMI's presence at the 36th edition of Chinaplas (23-26 April 2024, National Exhibition and Convention Center, Hongqiao, Shanghai). Ready-to-use solutions capable of offering tangible advantages in terms of process, product and ease of system operation accompany SACMI customers to further increase their efficiency, productivity and performance.

SACMI CCM, digital inside

Same on the outside, completely different on the inside.

This is the new generation of SACMI CCM presses, machines that are increasingly high-performing, easy to use, and capable of predicting both their own behavior and that of the process.

For the first time, SACMI will show some self-adjustments of the most important process parameters, based on feedback from CVS control systems, designed and built by SACMI.

At the Shanghai International Trade Fair, SACMI is exhibiting a CCM48 equipped with "Smart Pack 2", the new package of advanced controls, available from 2024 on the CCM range, which allows for even more proactive and precise management of hydraulics, dose insertion and raw materials.

An absolute novelty is also the new "prediction" button on the press, for the anticipation of any production drifts and the proactive management of maintenance.

Cloud & AI

The sharing of machine data in the Cloud with the SACMI Smart Care service is just one of the opportunities for the customer who, with the new Artificial Intelligence tools applied to vision systems, benefits from the advantages that the transition from quality control to process control brings.

There are three main challenges: anticipating problems, increasing efficiency and – with the AI of SACMI systems – also making it easier to manage lines and processes.

For example, SACMI is the first company on the market to have developed a preform press (IPS range) that directly integrates the vision system, the new PVS156. It also develops specific systems for the control of all phases of cap manufacturing (CVS, CHS, PFMC) and preform (PVS).

The advanced software package (CVs Software Suite), proposed in the new 2024 release, accompanies all SACMI Computer Vision systems. Within the Suite, SACMI offers Classy AI for the automatic classification of defects, a revolution in the ease of operation of these systems that are increasingly popular today.

«Future proof» technology (and products)

Monitoring the state of health/efficiency of both the machine and the production process is the main objective of the digital r-evolution of the cap and preform machines produced by SACMI.

In addition to the new machines, SACMI is focusing on its ability to support the customer in the continuous transition to new formats and standards with profitable, ready-to-use and “future-proof” solutions.

These include the cutting of the band in post-processing downstream of compression molding. A solution that allows the switch to the new tethered capsules to be tackled quickly, flexibly and with limited investments.

This also aids the adoption and diffusion of new standards such as 26/22 mm the latest solutions are already on the market and are certified by the major international brand owners. Each solution in this new family has specific advantages with respect to those already in use, even the highest-performing ones.

Patented efficiency (only with us)

With the new generation of IPS (injection preform system) presses, SACMI has extended the technological leadership it has acquired in the production of capsules to the production of preforms.

Systems such as the enhanced cooling of the Cool+ mould are designed and patented by SACMI to ensure that the customer achieves the required productivity targets, while keeping machines and systems at the top of their efficiency, even over time.

On-site technical assistance and original spare parts always available with SACMI Shanghai are the further guarantee for the customer, to always get the most out of the investment in SACMI technology.
