Nippon Electric Glass (NEG) showcases three key products: INNOFIBER – Flat Glass Fiber; Glass Fiber Chopped Strands; and Glass Fiber Rovings. Glass fiber as an ingredient in reinforced plastic can make automotive parts, electronic components, and housing equipment stronger, lighter and more durable.

The company’s fiberglass has been widely adopted in many applications, ranging from transportation, especially in electric vehicle (EV), to infrastructure, oil and gas, consumer products and wind energy.

Nippon Electric Glass showcases three main products, including INNOFIBER – Flat Glass Fiber.

“As a highly versatile and lightweight material, fiberglass is often used as a durable and cost-effective alternative to metal, concrete and wood,” says Eric Barrouillet, Vice President of Glass Fiber Sales, Nippon Electric Glass.

Eric adds that NEG is the only independent fiberglass producer with a global footprint and offers a wide range of industry-leading products which can be customized to suit the end-applications and customers’ needs.

On the topic of sustainability, Eric explains that fiberglass is a very durable and long-lasting product that can be recycled. As for fiberglass producer such as NEG, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from melting furnaces is its top priority and the key to achieving carbon neutrality and related compliances.

He stresses that NEG is firmly rooted in the traditions of its founding mission, and its corporate philosophy plots a path for its quest to a sustainable growth.

Looking ahead, he expects that the versatility of plastics and wide range of applications will continue to drive the growth of the plastics market. However, the excessive use of plastic materials has led to mounting waste around the world, which can hinder the development of the plastics industry.

To find a way to boost sustainability and recyclability of plastics, innovations in greener products and low-carbon production are required. Meanwhile, the adaptation and utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the manufacturing process will also help to improve productivity.

Despite many uncertainties, Eric is confident that the prospects of the plastics industry will be bright. “We could expect another turbulent year in 2024 due to global geopolitical issues and challenges in logistics, but the plastics industry will continue to maintain healthy growth in the long run,” he concludes.
