Trinseo introduces flame-retardant plastics without PFAS additives
Trinseo introduces its new flame-retardant EMERGE PC 8600PV and 8600PR resins, as well as EMERGE PC/ABS 7360E65 resins, all manufactured without the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) or halogenated additives.

Trinseo introduces new flame-retardant PC and PC/ABS resins manufactured without PFAS or halogenated additives.
Many PFAS chemicals are commonly used for their important flame-retardant properties, as well as their resistance to heat, oil, stain, grease, and water. Trinseo’s new resins maintain performance while addressing the growing demand and regulatory pressures to reduce the use of PFAS, especially in the consumer electronics and electrical industries.
EMERGE PC 8600PV and 8600PR flame-retardant grades offer high-temperature and UV resistance, excellent dimensional stability, superior impact resistance and wide processing window.
They are available in glossy or matte finishes. The flame-retardant property is proved by the UL94 V0 rated (1.5mm) for all colors. In addition, EMERGE 8600PR contains recycled content which help reduce carbon footprint and facilitate waste reduction and recycling in the consumer electronic industry.
For EMERGE PC/ABS 7360E65 flame-retardant products, with 65% recycled content, they deliver high flow, outstanding thermal stability, dimensional stability, UV resistance and wide processing window.
The flame-retardant property is proved by the UL94 V2 rated (0.5mm) for all colors. They are ideal for thin-wall applications.
The new PFAS-free grades are suitable for applications in a variety of fields such as IT equipment, electronic and electrical products, battery charges and voltage stabilizers.
Trinseo will introduce the PFAS-free flame-retardant PC and PC/ABS resins at CHINAPLAS 2024. They will first be launched in the Asia-Pacific market.
