Jiangsu Deqi starts operate carbon recycling project with 600 tons annual capacity

On April 18, 2024, Jiangsu Deqi Tech New Materials has successfully started full operation of its “600-ton annual recycled carbon fiber green circular economy application project”. Management team, research team and frontline staff have all come to witnessed this important moment.

Jiangsu Deqi Tech New Materials celebrated the start of operation of its carbon fiber recycling project.

 

As carbon fiber composites are widely applied in different areas, wasted carbon fiber composite is rapidly growing. However, the recycling and reuse of this material in China remains at the starting point.

 

Therefore, developing recycling method and circular applications for carbon fiber composite help protect environment and reduce carbon emissions, achieving carbon peak and neutral goal of China as well as bringing economic efficiency to companies.

 

Jiangsu Deqi always holds the idea of sustainable development, continuously invests in the R&D of technology and equipment for recycling method and circular applications for carbon fiber composite.

 

After three years of hard work from its technical team, through cracking single pot equipment, continuous processing testing line and R&D on continuous mass production line equipment and processing technology, the team successfully developed a continuous production line for carbon fiber composite recycling and circular application, and entered full operation.

 

The production line features high automation, high productivity and low energy consumption. The recycled carbon fiber also offers the same performance as virgin carbon fiber.

 

Besides that, the technical team also developed sizing agent for carbon fiber focusing on different thermoplastic, which significantly increases dispersibility and interface adhesion of short fiber in granulation process.

 

The company source carbon fiber from wind turbine spars, which is a stable source and has good consistency. The recycled carbon fiber offers stable performance, low dispersibility, as well as supports long-term and mass productivity.

 

At the same time, the company actively support the preparation work on standardizing recycling and reuse. The company is the standard preparation unit of both “Carbon emission accounting method for recycled carbon fiber composite” and “Carbon emission accounting method for recycled wind turbine”.

 

In addition, Jiangsu Deqi is also actively launching the verification work of Global Recycled Standards, to ensure the recycling and production process bring the minimum impact to environment through standard requirement on traceability, social responsibility, environment and other aspect.

 

The “600-ton annual recycled carbon fiber green circular economy application project” successful operation marks an important step of Jiangsu Deqi’s carbon fiber production. It not only enhances the ability to serve the market and customers, but also contributes to the high-quality development of carbon fiber industry.
