LANXESS celebrates 25 years of production for Qingdao site

LANXESS’ Rhein Chemie Qingdao is one of the earliest foreign-funded investments in Qingdao, China. The German specialty chemicals company is celebrating 25 years of production at the site.

 

Editor of Adsale Plastics Network attended the celebration activity at the Qingdao site, and she found the automation of the site is so high that almost unmanned production is realized.

 

Established in 1995, the site began producing Rhenogran specialty polymer-bound rubber chemicals in 1999 and launched production of Additin lubricant oil additives in 2008.

For the Rhein Chemie business unit, the Qingdao site produces a range of polymer additives for the Asia market, such as polymer-bound rubber chemicals, process accelerators, vulcanizing and filler actives, and release agents are used in the production of tires, technical rubber goods and sports shoes.

 

For the Lubricants Additives business unit, lubricant additives manufactured at the Qingdao site are used in metal working fluids, anti-rust oils, greases and hydraulic fluids, industrial gear oils, turbine oils and compressor oils.

 

Sustainability is a key focus for Rhein Chemie Qingdao. The site manufactures products for recycling used rubber, and it has adopted sustainable production processes to make sure that the wastewater discharge volumes are kept in an eco-friendly manner.

 

Boost Chinese market with sustainability and innovation

 

LANXESS is strengthening its focus on the Chinese market by prioritizing sustainable solutions and advanced lubricant additives. Following significant destocking over the past year, the demand for lubricant additives in China is expected to recover.

 

LANXESS has expanded its production capacity for sustainable light-color sulfur carriers, which are essential in applications such as battery case forming oil, a crucial component in various industries.

 

The company’s portfolio also includes advanced lubricants for high-tech applications, such as wind turbines and high-speed rail systems. High-performance food grade lubricants specially formulated for food processing are another key offering.
