CHINAPLAS 2025: Gneuss presents versatile OMNI Recycling Systems

Jan 16, 2025

Gneuss, a global leader in plastics recycling and processing headquartered in Germany, will exhibit at CHINAPLAS 2025 in Shenzhen. The focus will be innovative recycling technologies, including OMNI Recycling Systems, Rotary Filtration Systems and MRS Extruders.

OMNI Recycling Systems

The OMNI recycling systems are versatile and particularly suitable for post-consumer and post-industrial recycling. They process a wide range of plastics such as polyester (PET), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) into high-quality end products.

Decontamination of post-consumer waste for direct food contact products is a key application for OMNI systems. Typical applications include PET bottles, HDPE bottle caps, PS packaging, and PP yoghurt pots. Its decontamination efficiency is confirmed by US Food and Drug Administration approvals, EFSA compliance and numerous local approvals.

The recycling systems also have excellent odor reduction and degassing properties for materials such as PA, SAN and other polymers, which significantly improves the quality of the recyclate.

OMNI recycling systems also offer compact design, fully automatic control of system components and maximum flexibility to handle fluctuating feed materials.

OMNI systems make efficient use of the energy generated during extrusion for downstream processes, significantly reducing energy consumption, operating costs and carbon footprint.

Rotary Filtration Systems

The patented Rotary Filtration Systems are characterized by a filter disc with circular screen cavities.

Patented Gneuss Rotary Filtration Systems are fully automatic, process- and pressure-constant.

These continuous systems feature a screen is changed on the side of the filter disc that is not in the melt channel. This allows the production process to continue uninterrupted and trouble-free, even at high process pressures and with highly variable post-consumer contamination levels.

The RSFgenius filter model also offers automatic high-pressure segment rinsing, which cleans the contaminated screens precisely and efficiently. The segments of the screen surface are continuously cleaned with a defined, minimal proportion of filtered melt, reducing backflushing losses to a minimum.

MRS multi-screw extruder

Based on conventional single-screw technology, the MRS extruder is equipped with a unique multi-screw section for efficient degassing that meets food contact requirements. A simple, robust vacuum system enables direct processing of rPET into high quality end products without pre-drying.

The patented multi-screw section with counter-rotating satellite screws significantly increases the surface exchange of the polymer melt and provides a degassing surface that is much larger than other extrusion systems. As a result, impurities are thoroughly removed and the recycled pellets have excellent optical and mechanical properties, making them suitable for use in food applications.
