Arkema and start-up OOYOO join forces to develop CO2 separation membrane technology and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU). This collaboration leverages Arkema’s expertise in high performance polymers and OOYOO’s proprietary membrane separation technology.

Arkema and OOYOO signed an MOU to jointly develop CO2 separation membrane technology.

Technologies for CO2 separation and recovery have potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Once isolated and purified, CO2 can be processed downstream into several industrial chemicals such as carbonates, fertilizers, dry ice, and fuels.

Arkema will bring in its pioneering technology on polymer synthesis and material design, primarily focused on the company’s flagship Pebax elastomers designed with tailored molecular channeling technology leading to high selectivity, chemical stability and excellent mechanical strength.

OOYOO will concentrate on material selection, solution formulation, and high-performance membrane and module design, focusing on separation, recovery, and reuse of CO2.

The collaboration will accelerate performance improvements of OOYOO’s cutting-edge, self-developed separation membranes through new high performance materials developed and proposed by Arkema, including Pebax polyether block amide elastomers, polyimide, PEKK, and PVDF resins.
