Syensqo introduces pioneering non-fluorosurfactant perfluoroelastomers

Syensqo, a global leader in advanced performance materials and chemical solutions, has launched a groundbreaking range of high-performance perfluoroelastomers using its proprietary non-fluorosurfactant (NFS) technology.

Syensqo has launched a groundbreaking range of high-performance perfluoroelastomers using its proprietary non-fluorosurfactant (NFS) technology.

 

The new Tecnoflon FFKM NFS products are the first commercial ones that manufactured entirely without surfactants. They are designed to meet the semiconductor industry and other high-performance markets’ stringent demands, marking a significant step in Syensqo’s commitment to sustainability and its roadmap to eliminate fluorinated surfactants from all product lines.

 

Syensqo also plans to introduce a series of NFS perfluoroelastomers with certified circular content, utilizing a mass balance chain of custody. This initiative aligns with customer demands for greater circularity and supports the EU Critical Raw Materials Act, which aims to enhance supply chain resilience by reducing reliance on externally sourced fluorspar, a critical mineral. 

 

The initial product launch includes Tecnoflon PFR 6055B for semiconductor dry applications and high-temperature industrial uses, and Tecnoflon PFR 6265B for direct plasma applications. Manufactured in Spinetta, Italy, these products will be commercially available starting April 2025. Additional grades for wet processes and very high-temperature applications will follow shortly. 

 

FFKM materials are widely used in semiconductor seals, o-rings, and high-end transportation and industrial applications. With this launch, Syensqo is helping manufacturers enhance sustainability by eliminating fluorosurfactant-containing products and advancing circularity in their operations.
