PLEXIGLAS molding compounds, the brand polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) from Röhm, makes its debut on the illuminated brand lettering at the rear of Opel’s new Grandland Electric SUV.

Produced by lighting specialists at HELLA Lighting, the multi-part rear light is integrated into the slimline rear light strip that extends across the entire width of the vehicle, with the OPEL lettering is discernible even from a distance.

The three-dimensional lettering is injection-molded in one piece. PLEXIGLAS PMMA allows injection molded parts to achieve uniform thickness and avoid cracks and sink marks

PLEXIGLAS PMMA offers highest optical purity and excellent light-guiding properties, as well as a high heat deflection temperature and mechanical stability, making it a great choice for use in vehicle lighting components.

With its well-balanced melt viscosity, the molding compound is very well suited for injection molding and offers great freedom of design.

HELLA also produces the transparent cover from PLEXIGLAS molding compound. In addition to its excellent transparency, the material also has excellent UV and weather resistance, and does not turn yellow over time.

As a result, the signal colors required by the relevant standards are reproduced perfectly, and the Opel brand name is highlighted with sharp and crystal-clear brilliance.
