Under the theme “Connecting Everyday Life”, SABIC will showcase innovative solutions in K 2025 to help customers develop products that have an impact in everyday life.

At the EMG Pre K Press Event in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, SABIC unveiled a list of solutions that will exhibit at K 2025. Speakers at the event included Marco Dalmino, Director of Commercial & Supply Chain Europe, Specialties at SABIC, and Michel Wintraecken, Director of PE Business Europe, Polymers at SABIC.

Daily life solutions

 

SABIC supports innovative and sustainable solutions for different packaging and applications, including food-contact packaging. At K, the chemical expert will show food vacuum system containers, railway interior components, cosmetic packaging, and toothpaste cap.

 

The food vacuum system container is made of certified circular SABIC PP polymer from OBP. It is mono-material PP designed for recyclability. It is also food contact approved, BPA free and with good impact strength and high gloss, ensuring safe use for consumers.

 

Another application using certified circular SABIC PP polymer is toothpaste cap. The solution offers easy processability as a drop-in solution, as well as strong mechanical performance.

 

Made of LNP ELCRES FST2734E resins, railway interior components adhere to the highest safety standards EN45545 R1-HL2 in 2-4mm. It contains certified renewable feedstock and is designed for recyclability.

 

Certified bio-renewable SABIC PP polymer is used in cosmetic packaging to ensure its lightweight, strong rigidity and recyclability. The solution is made of 97% bio-based plastic from crude tall oil.

 

Consumer electronics

 

LNP ELCRES WF0087N and WFB16NIQ compounds are used for smartphone frames. The compounds offer exceptional waterproof using nano-molding technology, superior fire safety with non-hhalogenated flame retardancy, as well as better antenna signal with low-dielectric properties.

 

Automotive

 

EV battery pack enclosure system demonstrator is made of flame-retardant STAMAX 30YH570 (LGF-PP) resin. The solution offers thermal runaway mitigation with protective intumescent char to contain or delay fire spread.

 

It also optimizes design with its lightweight feature and higher design flexibility for fewer parts that allows faster and less-costly assembly.

 

Medical

 

SABIC addresses the challenge of plastic waste in the healthcare system. The non-contaminated used medical plastic can be re-purposed for SABIC’s TRUCIRCLE solutions, resulting a successful proven concept of recycling used medical plastic back into the medical materials stream.

 

SABIC’s LNP ELCRES CRX copolymer resins are used in medical equipment. The solution offers exceptional resistance to disinfectant. This helps prevent premature part failure from environmental stress cracking due to increasing aggressive disinfectants.

 

The solution also features impact retention upon exposure to chemicals. It is available in consistent opaque colors and appearance for aesthetics.

 

Photovoltaic panel

 

Green energy is also key to sustainability. SABIC PP compounds and ETP resin solutions support lightweight polyolefin photovoltaic panel for its long-term performance, weatherability, and high-impact performance.
