The trade fair highlights include the new all-electric PX series with intuitive MC7 control, the new Chopped Fiber Processing (CFP) process, an automated assembly line as well as digital solutions and innovations in additive manufacturing.

Adsale Plastics Network is invited to the Pre K media conference, hosted by Messe Düsseldorf. Victor Cheng, Executive Editor from Adsale Plastics Network, is attending this Pre K media conference and brings readers the latest news on the exhibitors.

World premiere: All-electric PX injection molding machine series

At K 2025, KraussMaffei’s all-electric PX injection molding machine series will make its world debut. The new generation impresses with outstanding energy efficiency and compact structure design. With state-of-the-art drive technology, the series achieve energy recovery, minimal media and energy consumption.

Compared to the original PX series, the new series feature more than 25% improvement in energy efficiency and 23% less in space consumption. With their compact design, they also enable flexible production cells with integrated handling and conveyor technology.

At K 2025, KraussMaffei will be showcasing the new all-electric PX series in combination with the new LRXplus linear robot.

The LRXplus linear robot.

The linear robot offers a wide range of functions for flexible automation and is characterized by a high level of compatibility, both with KraussMaffei injection molding machines and with systems from other manufacturers as well as with various automation tasks.

Future-oriented applications for medical technology, technical components and packaging/logistics will be on display.

World premiere: Chopped Fiber Processing (CFP) process

Another world debut from KraussMaffei will be the new Chopped Fiber Processing (CFP) process, an economical solution for direct compounding of chopped glass fibers and polypropylene. Compared to conventional long glass fiber pellets, CFP offers significantly greater flexibility and noticeable cost advantages, while maintaining the same component performance.

At the heart of the process is a newly developed, patented screw geometry that ensures particularly efficient melting and homogeneous mixing of polymer and fibers, resulting high-quality, fiber-reinforced components with optimum material utilization.

In addition, CFP is compatible with all KraussMaffei standard injection molding machines and can be easily retrofitted via the KraussMaffei Service. The return on investment (ROI) is less than one year.

At K 2025, the CFP process will be demonstrated live on a GX 650-4300 for automotive application.

Visitors to the K 2025 can experience the CFP process live at the KraussMaffei stand on a GX 650-4300 in combination with a LRXplus linear robot. A complex tailgate component for the automotive industry will be produced.

KraussMaffei Extrusion

The spotlight in extrusion technology is on solutions for more efficient and future-proof plastics processing – from large-scale industrial polymer manufacturing to pipe and profile extrusion and to cost-effective recycling processes.

ZE-PC compounding extruder: High energy efficiency and processing quality

One of the highlights in the trade fair will be the new generation of ZE Petrochemical (ZE-PC) compounding extruders.

KraussMaffei_ZE BluePower.jpg

The ZE compounding extruder is based on the BluePower technology.

Based on the proven BluePower technology, the co-rotating twin-screw extruders – available with screw diameters up to 400 mm – combine energy efficiency with high processing quality.

“Thanks to a D/d ratio of 1.65, torque densities of up to 16 Nm/cm³, and variable-speed drives, the machines can run at lower screw speeds without compromising throughput. This lowers the specific drive power and reduces the melt temperatures, which lowers the risk of degradation,” explains Dr. Thomas Unger, Vice President Technologies at KraussMaffei Extrusion.

Optimized recycling process: More output, less investment

In the PET recycling sector, KraussMaffei Extrusion will present a high-performance twin-screw system based on the BluePower series for throughputs of up to 12 tons per hour. The concept responds to the increasing demand for higher output and more energy- and cost-efficient processing. Compared to conventional twin-screw systems, energy consumption can be reduced by up to 20%. The systems are compatible with standard SSP units and produce food-grade rPET.

In chemical recycling, KraussMaffei Extrusion is focusing on key technologies: high-performance extruders for processing material streams - for example, to produce pyrolysis oils - efficiently implement crucial process steps such as dewatering, degassing and the removal of impurities. Pressures of up to 200 bar and the retractable UltraGlide system with easy-to-maintain screws enable customized solutions for demanding recycling applications.
