India imposes anti-dumping duties on plastics machinery from China

India is intensifying trade defense measures in the plastics processing machinery sector. On June 26, the Indian Department of Revenue officially implemented anti-dumping duties between 27% and 63% on plastic processing machinery imported from China and Taiwan region.

 

These duties affect machines classified under tariff codes 8477 10 00 and 8477 90 00. The decision follows an investigation by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), which reached the following conclusions:

 

  • The plastics machinery has been exported to India from China and Taiwan region at dumped prices

  • The domestic industry has suffered material injury on account of the dumped imports

  • The material injury has been caused to the domestic industry by the dumped imports

 

This anti-dumping duty is calculated based on the CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value of the imported goods, aiming to level the playing field for domestic manufacturers.

 

Based on the investigation, some key manufacturers and tariffs involved are:

 

  • FCS Dongguan; FCS Ningbo - CIF: 48%

  • Chen Hsong Machinery Taiwan Co. Ltd. - CIF: 39%

  • Chen Hsong Machinery (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.; Chen Hsong Machinery (Ningbo) Co., Ltd.; Foshan Shunde Chen De Plastics Machinery Company - CIF: 27%

  • Yizumi Precision Molding Technology Co., Ltd.; Yizumi High Speed Packaging Technology Co., Ltd.; Yizumi Precision Machinery (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. - CIF: 35%

 

Other injection molding machine manufacturers imported from China are subject to tariffs as high as 63%.

 

It is noteworthy that Husky Injection Molding Systems (Shanghai) Ltd. and Huarong Plastic Machinery Co., Ltd. are not subjected to any tariffs in the announcement.
