Oerlikon Metco launches scalable IIoT-enabled thermal spray platform

Oerlikon Metco announced the global launch of Surface Two, the latest edition in its Surface platform series. Building on the success of the Surface One, introduced in 2018, Surface Two delivers the same cutting-edge thermal spray performance, now scaled for larger parts and broader industrial applications.

Engineered for industries such as aerospace, power generation, automotive, medical, and semiconductors, Surface Two extends the benefits of modularity, smart manufacturing, and process consistency to customers processing medium-to-large components.

 

Highlighted features of Surface Two include:

  • Larger capacity: Supports parts up to Ø2000 mm and 1500 mm in height, with handling options up to 5000 kg

  • Smart platform: Equipped with the MultiCoat 5 controller and embedded IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) capabilities for data-driven operations

  • Rapid deployment: Fastest commissioning in its class, minimizing installation time and shop floor disruption

  • Flexible automation: Available in both standard and K2 configurations to support semi- or fully automated production environments

  • Next-Gen usability: Featuring Clarity2 user interface, clean-room-ready airflow design, and minimal maintenance downtime

 

Surface Two retains the relocatable, skid-based architecture of Surface One, along with standardized components and advanced airflow design, delivering a cleaner, safer, and more efficient operating environment.

 

With enhanced scalability and multi-process compatibility, Surface Two can handle larger components, accelerate changeovers, and adapt seamlessly to shifting production demands.
