(Video Interview) Understand more about the first ISO standard for safety of IMM

May 20, 2020
02:51

The first international safety standard for plastics and rubber machinery, ISO 20430 for injection moulding machines (IMM), was published in April 2020.

By complying with ISO 20430, manufacturers no longer need to modify their machinery to adapt to the safety standards in different markets.

About 40 experts from machine manufacturers, associations and health and safety organizations from 13 countries participated in the project. The convenorship and secretariat were taken over by VDMA Plastics and Rubber Machinery.

In an online interview with AdsaleCPRJ.com, Dr. Harald Weber, the project manager of ISO 20430, explained that the new standard presents a comprehensive solution describing different solutions for different areas of the machines, such as how to make doors, use light curtains, and combine them with the control system.

As automotive manufacturers seek higher efficiency, superior surface quality, and sustainable production, PUR In-Mold Coating (IMC) is emerging as an innovative solution for molded components. In this webinar, Haitian introduced PUR IMC and its key advantages: ✔ Direct Class A surfaces, No paint shop needed. Cutting costs, labor, and production time in a single step. ✔ Compared to traditional spray painting, PUR in-mold coating dramatically reduces VOC emissions and paint defects like orange peel and runs, giving automotive molders a cleaner, more consistent finish with less scrap. ✔ For automotive molders looking to move up the value chain, PUR in-mold coating opens the door to higher-margin finished-surface programs without the capital investment of a full paint line.

Direct‑shipped from Japan Sekisui expanding microspheres ensure stable supply. With consistent foaming ratio, they cut resin usage at low dosage for lightweight products. Uniform controllable cells deliver good dimensional consistency and lower defect rates. Compatible with extrusion, injection and blow molding, they need no major line modification. Providing resilience, sound and heat insulation, they apply to shoe materials, TPV seals, artificial leather, building gaskets, coatings and inks, helping manufacturers optimize overall production costs.
