Fakuma: INCOE’s hot runner systems for aerospace and automotive applications
At the Fakuma 2024 fairgrounds, INCOE showcased various advanced hot runner systems and solutions. One of the highlights was the solution used to manufacture the emergency exit door of aircraft for the ELTHEPLA project, which researched the use of thermoplastic finer composites in aviation.
The emergency exit door has an outer skin made of continuous fiber-reinforced PAEK laminate and molded-on ribs made of carbon-filled PEEK to which other plastic supports are attached.
The manufacturing process, many parts of which were automated, demonstrated that it is possible to manufacture aircraft components quickly and efficiently using thermoplastics.
The leading hot runner system manufacturer also exhibited a system, which features key flow control technology and cooling option, for automotive applications.
