Amcor introduces Vodex Generation II co-extruded packaging solution for bag-in-box foods

Nov 29, 2013

Amcor Flexibles introduces Amcor Vodex Generation II, a barrier liner for "bag-in box" foods offering a blend of moisture barrier, mineral oil barrier and breathability.

The co-extruded Amcor Vodex Generation II retains all the values of the original Amcor Vodex high density polyethylene (HDPE) products such as barrier against mineral oil hydrocarbon (MOH) migration, recyclability, breathability, aroma and flavor retention, according to the company. It also offers improved features of superior moisture barrier for a longer shelf-life, improved easy-opening, better packaging machine performance and opportunities for downgauging

Amcor notes that the new films can be tailored to specific product needs to meet barrier, puncture resistance, breathability and cost requirements.

Amy Byrick, Vice President Amcor Flexibles Europe & America's, Food & Beverage, says, "We believe Amcor Vodex Generation II is the most complete and cost effective solution to today's marketplace needs. A barrier liner such as Amcor Vodex, directly next to the food, helps protect it from external sources of contaminant which is a significant advantage over the use of virgin carton board alone."
