RadiciGroup highlights the Radilion D PA family for automotive industry at MSV 2012

At the forthcoming MSV International Engineering Fair (MSV 2012), RadiciGroup Plastics, an Italian chemicals supplier, will highlight its Radilion D family of polyamide (PA) 610 engineering plastics for the automotive industry.

Radilion D engineering plastics are 60% bio-based. Their ingredient is castor seed oil obtained from the plant Ricinus Communis. As said, the 60% bio-based PA610 grade is suitable for injection molding and extrusion and offers equal properties as traditional PA.

According to the company, Radilon D has the following advantages compared to general PA6 and PA66: reduced moisture uptake, less loss of tensile strength and tensile modulus under wet conditions, better chemical resistance in contact with zinc chloride and calcium chloride solutions as well as better glycol resistance.

In addition, the material has better heat resistance and lower hydrocarbon permeability over PA11 and PA12. It can be used in fuel line connectors, pneumatic conduits, brake lines, fuel lines and under-the-bonnet components.

Other exhibits of the RadiciGroup Plastics will include:

Radilon A HHR, PA66 grade with heat resistance to ageing in air up to 210~C

Radilon A RV500 RW 339, 50% glass fiber filled PA66 that can replace metal and thermosetting materials.

Radilon S URV, high-fludity PA6 with 50 or 60% glass fiber filled, are replacement for metal in structural components making.

Radilon A RV300 HRG 3900 NER and Radilon A GF300 RKC NER, both glycol-resistant 30% glass fiber filled PA66.

MSV 2012 will be held in Brno, Czech Republic from September 10-14.
