China's automotive market rebounds in March

According to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the country's automobile market saw a rebound in March as both the number of sales and production increased significantly.

During the month, China manufactured 1.8806 million units of cars, up by 16.9% compared with February and by 3.38% year on year. Meanwhile, 1.8386 million units of cars were sold, up by 17.33% from February and by 1.02% year on year.

By category, China produced 1.4558 million units of passenger cars in March, up by 15.4% from February and by 5.87% year on year. Meanwhile, 1.4 million units were sold, up by 15.4% from February and by 4.54% year on year.

During the month under review, the country manufactured 424,800 units of commercial vehicles, up by 22.35% from February but down by 4.32% year on year. Meanwhile, 438,600 units were sold, up by 23.92% from February but a drop of 8.8% year on year.

In the three-month period from January to March, China produced 4.7843 million units of cars and sold 4.7927 million units, both figures down by 1.83% and 3.4% year on year respectively. Of the total numbers of production in the period, 3.7712 million units of passenger cars were made and 3.7737 million units were sold. Production was up by 1.1% but sales decreased by 1.25% year on year respectively. Meanwhile, the country manufactured 1.0131 million units of commercial vehicles and sold 1.0190 million units, both figures down by 11.4% and 10.6% year on year respectively.
