Nicholl Food Packaging adds Plastopil's flexible film lidding to product offering barrier films to distributor portolio

Nicholl Food Packaging has been appointed as the UK and Ireland distributor for Plastopil, a manufacturer of multilayer flexible barrier films in Israel, according to its recent press release.

As said, Nicholl Food Packaging will initially offer Plastopil's Toplex film for the Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) lidding of trays and form fill seal machines, before adding further products from Plastopil's extensive range to its expanding portfolio.

Co-extruded and laminated, Toplex lidding films are suitable for food trays manufactured in many different materials including aluminum foil, PE, PP, PS, PVC, PET, ovenable board, pulp board, paperboard and coated compostable fiber, says Nicholl Food Packaging. They are formulated for a wide variety of products such as chilled and frozen meat, poultry, seafood and cheese to optimize shelf life and reduce freezer burn.

The company further introduces that Toplex films can be specified in high, medium or low barrier and are available in a range of thicknesses, including some of the thinnest barrier flexible films. Various seal layers are available to deliver locked or easy peel sealing, while the easy peel seals can be at different strengths to suit different products. Premium film grades can be specified for applications where high Hot Tack, extra strong seals, or sealing through product residue are needed.

In addition, good clarity, gloss and anti-fog properties provide on-shelf appeal while the option for printing and the availability of blue and white versions offer additional branding opportunities, Nicholl Food Packaging notes.

Nicholl Food Packaging's Chief Executive John Griffiths summed up, "Toplex films offer enormous flexibility for food products enabling us to offer customers a packaging solution in line with their particular product characteristics and marketing objectives. We look forward to extending our product portfolio further with more high quality innovative ranges from Plastopil."
