Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas, a division of Amcor, reveals that it has developed an innovative new packaging format for Sainsbury's fresh produce that would withstand the existing distribution and supply-chain processes while allowing consumers to see, touch and smell the quality of the produce being packaged, like shopping at traditional greengrocers.

In order to create such as packaging solution, Amcor Flexibles says its Fresh Produce team based in Amcor Flexibles Ledbury in the UK, worked closely with Sainsbury's selected customer base, machinery manufacturers and film suppliers, following which a unique combination of flexible surface printed film and net, which would run on existing film packing lines, was developed.

Amcor Flexibles adds that the "Taste the Difference" packaging solution has achieved outstanding results commercially since it was launched in June. Also, the "Taste the Difference" apple pack was awarded with first prize in the "Flexible Pack of the Year" category in the UK Packaging Awards 2011 announced on November 16. In addition, the netting and film "Taste the Difference" potato solution received a "highly commended" in the same event.
