Topas unveils new COC injection molding grade for food packaging
Oct 27, 2010
Topas Advanced Polymers has introduced new resin technology for cyclic olefin copolymer (COC). The material is claimed by the company to offer improved processability, high purity, and high heat resistance for applications in the medical and food industries
Topas 6013M-07, which is showcased at K2010, is the first grade to employ the new resin technology, featuring a wide injection moulding processing window. According to the company, the material does not need an external lubricant for either injection blow moulding (IBM) or injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM) applications.
Topas said the material was also suitable for monolayer and multi barrier bottles for food applications, thanks to an up to 130~C heat distortion temperature and its high clarity properties.
