Wacker introduces Silpuran silicone rubber used for medical devices

The increasing demand for safe, reliable performing medical devices due to an aging global population and an increasing number of people with access to healthcare, has inspired a new brand of liquid silicone rubber material used in the manufacturing of medical devices which healthcare professionals must trust every day.

Wacker has entered into full production of Silpuran silicone rubber, engineered to ISO 9001 quality standards and tested for biocompatibility compliance to ISO10993 and USP-Class VI standards.

Silpuran silicone rubber is a raw material in the production of seals for contact with skin, blood, plasma or dialysis fluid; medical tubing, catheters, hoses and profiles; gaskets, membranes, handles and needle-free valves.

Silpuran silicone rubber is manufactured and processed in a clean room manufacturing Class 6 (formerly Class 1000) area and engineered for purity. An enhanced inner-package designed to protect against static electricity and prevent contamination is surrounded by another protective outer packaging.

This "Double Protective" packaging layer helps ensure that medical device manufacturers receive Silpuran silicone rubber in a clean and pure state.
