Taiwan EPA to initiate "zero tolerance" policy on plastic bag recycling

Feb 2, 2007
The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) of Taiwan announced on January 29 its plan to encourage plastic bag recycling in the region.

From January 1, 2008 onwards, the EPA of Taiwan will announce a "zero tolerance" policy on plastic bag recycling, in which all household are compulsory to separate plastic bags from other waste. Offenders will be subjected to a penalty of NT$1,200-6,000.

The EPA of Taiwan has launched the plastic bag recycling program in 14 provinces and cities since May last year, and up to the end of last year, 2,300 tons of plastics were recycled, much higher than the targeted volume of 900 tons.
