Moretto’s Dry Air mini dryers receive patent in aftermath of 18-year opposition

Moretto’s Dry Air mini dryers have been confirmed to receive the international patent by the European Patent Office (EPO) for the uniqueness and exclusivity of the technology.

 

The company filed a system patent in 2005 but was objected by two competitors. After 18 years between approval and opposition processes, the EPO confirmed the international patent, recognizing the inventive and distinctive character of the system.

 

Compact and high-performance

 

With compact dimensions, Dry Air mini dryers can be installed directly on the processing machine. 


They are suited for treatment of polymers used in demanding sectors, including medical, optical, electronics and telephony. The dryers can treat technical polymers, such as PA6, PBT, PEEK and others, which require extensive treatment to ensure finished product meets strict standard.

 

Energy efficient and versatile

 

Dry Air is a dryer with twin self-regenerating towers based on zeolite technology. It works with compressed air and allows the regulation of the air flow sent to the hopper.

 

The anti-stress system, which is a standard feature of the range, prevents over-drying of polymer. The use of Original Thermal eXchanger (OTX) increases and completes the performance of drying unit, resulting an exceptionally energy-efficient solution.

 

The Dry Air range includes three product lines with a total of 15 models to meet different user expectations.

Range with distinctive features

 

In the D TX version, the operator, guided by the system database, can independently set the machine according to the type of polymer to be processed and the production required, defining the air flow.

 

For the XD TX series, automatic airflow adjustment is available. By setting two parameters, polymer type and hourly throughput, the dryer automatically manages in a self-adaptive way the necessary airflow to treat the material, with significant energy efficiency.

 

Dedicated to medical and optical applications, XD XM series reach the top of the mini dryer family in terms of features and performance. OTX hopper in this version evolves and becomes transparent by using Pyrex to show the contents. 

 

Through USV and MODBUS serial port, multiple connection is possible to make the mini dryers perfectly integrable to Mowis, the Moretto supervision and management system, as well as connectable to individual instruments for process data collection.
