Eastman’s more sustainable CAP adopted for optical frames

Gibaplast, a specialty compounder, offers Eastman’s Tenite Renew for eyewear companies which seek to offer increased sustainable content in eyewear frames through local European production.

Tenite Renew is a new, more sustainable version of Tenite cellulose acetate propionate (CAP) – a common material within the eyewear industry for optical frames and fashion sunglasses.

The new version adds more than 20% certified recycled content to the existing bio-based content of Tenite CAP, with no compromise to performance and quality. As a drop-in replacement, Tenite Renew combines injection molding efficiency with the comfort and adjustability of acetate eyewear frames.

Eastman’s Tenite Renew is made up of recycled content, maintaining quality and performance in eyewear application.

Tenite Renew is a part in the broad range of sustainable materials, including Acetate Renew and Tritan Renew, now available at scale from Eastman’s molecular recycling technologies, which transform hard-to-recycle plastic waste into new material, reducing waste end up in landfills and incinerators.
