Fakuma 2023 concluded with success

The 28th Fakuma international trade fair for plastics processing was held successfully. With 1,636 exhibitors, which is 10% more than exhibitors from the last Fakuma 2021, the fairground with twelve exhibition halls and several foyer areas was booked out.

The trade fair presented a promising outlook for the future in terms of plastics degradability and recyclability. Subject matter was based on thematic focuses including digitalization, automation, flexibility, energy-efficiency and sustainability.

Among the 1,636 exhibitors, 44% of them were international, including 134 companies from Italy, 120 from China, 79 from Switzerland, 70 from Austria, 58 from Turkey and 55 from France.

To conclude, exhibitors generally commented Fakuma as “an ideal platform” for connecting and exchanging ideas with customers, demonstrating products and machinery solutions, and developing new fields of business with existing and potential customers.

Attractive machines demonstrations

Large machines demonstrations have always been eye-catchers for visitors. This year, new products including systems with all-electric drives, which offer higher flexibility and performance.

A wide variety of sustainable concepts were also presented for packaging, recycling compounds and metal substitution solutions.

Furthermore, machines for grinding and shredding were showcased, as well as modern cooling systems and energy-efficient mold-temperature control technology, systems for process monitoring and data acquisition, and innovations from industrial 3D printing.

Discussion on circular economy

Fakuma 2023 supported a significant development on holistic product conceptualization and the promotion of recycling and degradability of plastic.

The roundtable discussion on the subject “Plastic – Recyclable Material Rather Than Problem Material” has demonstrated impressively that lots of clarification is still required in this area. Circular economy is connected to waste management, environmental policy, industrial and economic policies, which all involved parties should work together to tackle the challenges.
