Toray Industry has developed the world’s highest strength carbon fiberTORAYCA T1200, which reduces environmental footprints by lightening carbon-fiber reinforced plastic materials.

Toray developed new high-strength TORAYCA T1200 carbon fiber.

With rising demand for high-strength carbon fibers, Toray accordingly sets about refining its proprietary nanoscale structural control technology to design and achieve an internal structure with high toughness.

TORAYCA T1200 is with a tensile strength of 8.0 GPa, which is around 100kg force per square millimeter. This is more than 10% higher than TORAYCA T1100 with 7.0 GPa.

The new carbon fiber fits diverse applications, including golf shafts, bicycle accessories, fishing rods, and other sports, leisure equipment, motorsports, as well as aviation and space.

Toray developed T1200 at a new facility within the Ehime Plant in Masaki-cho, Ehime Prefecture.

Toray began selling carbon fibers in 1971. In 1986, the company developed TORAYCA T1000, which was then the world’s highest strength carbon fiber. In recent years Toray further expanded the potential of carbon fibers by commercializing TORAYCA T1100.
