Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) have jointly launched recently a foundational sustainability playbook titled “Sustainability Playbook for Enterprises: Embarking on your Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) journey”.

Falls under the purview of EnterpriseSG’s Enterprise Sustainability Programme (ESP) introduced to support Singapore enterprises to integrate sustainability into their business and capture new opportunities in the green economy, the playbook provides a step-by-step guide to help enterprises assess their ESG readiness.

A list of relevant resources, such as self-help guides and training programs to help companies get started on the sustainability journey, is also provided.

Minister urges for sustainable food packaging

The playbook complements other sustainability playbooks developed by EnterpriseSG and its partners. One of them would be the playbook developed for Singapore’s food producers.

At a seminar, Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment in Singapore, asked the food producers to refer to this playbook developed by EnterpriseSG.

This industry-specific playbook includes checklists for key sustainable development strategies, according to Singaporean financial newspaper The Business Times.

It focuses on three areas: optimizing resources; food waste valorization, which refers to the conversion of food waste or by-products into higher-value items; and the adoption of sustainable packaging.

To fund their transition to sustainability, the food producers can tap existing government schemes, such as adopting energy-efficient equipment, added the minister who also encouraged the use of sustainable food packaging.
